Hi there,

With the growing popularity of BITalino (r)evolution BLE devices a few questions common to multiple users have identified. Please consider the following details associated with the use of this variant of our platform.

NOTE THAT THIS INFORMATION IS SPECIFIC TO THE BLE VARIANT.

The main motivation for us to launch the BLE version was to provide a developer-friendly option for people seeking to create applications for iOS with the BITalino platform given that standard Bluetooth is not easily supported.

Due to a combination of multiple limitations in the BLE protocol, BITalino (r)evolution BLE devices can only stream a 1 analog input at the maximum sampling rate of 1kHz... from our experiences with BLE this is the setting for which a reliable communication can be achieved.

The operation for the remaining sampling rate options of 100Hz, 10Hz & 1Hz has not been changed and using any of these instead of 1kHz it is possible to acquire all 6 analog inputs simultaneously.

If you want to use our OpenSignals software with a BLE device it currently only works on Windows and a Bluegiga BLED112 dongle is required:
http://www.silabs.com/products/wireless/bluetooth/bluetooth-low-energy-modules/ble121lr-bluetooth-smart-long-range-module1

You can try to source it locally (as it may be easier, cheaper and faster to obtain) or you can choose to purchase it from our store:

If you're looking to develop your own software, please be advised that the Android API by Gonçalo Telo and the iOS and Mac OS X APIs by Jasmin Nisic available for download on our website do not require the dongle:

Additional details on BLE services and profiles being used can be found on the data sheet of the BLE module, available through the link bellow:

If you need any additional support regarding the use of your BITalino (r)evolution BLE device, please e-mail us at bitalino@plux.info

Best regards,
The BITalino Team

Hi everyone,

There have been reports of issues while using the BITalino (r)evolution BLE devices together with the Bluegiga BLED112 dongle on Windows 10.

Our team has traced these issues to be originated by incorrect drivers installed. To install the correct drivers you need to:

  1. Download the drivers from this link
  2. Unzip the file
  3. Select the .inf file
  4. Right click with the mouse button, and select "Install"

After the drivers have been properly installed, everything should work properly now. If you continue to any experience issues, just let us know.

Best regards,
The BITalino Team
