Color coded wires

Hello,

I've recently bought a respiration sensor with a 4-pin Molex Sherlock cable, but I need to do some adaptations to my experimental setup, which involves knowing what is each wire exactly. I know they are color coded but sometimes these things can vary...

I guess that black-neutral, green-ground, red-signal, yellow-power (3.3V for this sensor)

Could you confirm this information?

Hi,

Are you using the version with an RJ, a Molex Sherlock or a UC-E6 connector?

You can check the physical appearance of the Molex and UC-E6 connectors here:

I have already a sensor with a 4-pin Molex Sherlock, but I don't want to connect it directly to bitalino, so I wanted to know what each wire is. Given that the respiration sensor (as well as the other sensors) is differential, I realize that three of the wires in this cable correspond to the Ref, In+ and In-. What I don't understand is what is the 4th wire? It didn't existed in previous versions of this connector (which were only 3 pins)... and it seems that even if I wanted to solder a 4-pin Molex Sherlock socket to the board (even the newest one), there are only three input pins available.

Sorry if I'm making some sort of confusion

The 4th wire is the analog output coming from the sensor.

In the sensor version with the 4-pin Female Molex Sherlock connector, the pinout should be as follows:

BLACK - GND (0V)
RED - VCC (e.g. 3.3V)
GREEN - REF (VCC/2)
YELLOW - OUTPUT

I just received a package with open wires UCE6 cables. There are 5 colored cables. Can you tell me the pinout?

Hi Peter,

In the UC-E6 breakout cable, the pinout should be as follows:

BLUE - GND (0V)
RED - VCC (3.3V)
COPPER - REF (VCC/2)
COPPER & COLOR - SIGNAL
GREEN - NOT USED
