Bluetooth communication between two MCUs?

Postby LvanH » Fri May 01, 2015 11:06 am

Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to make two BITalino MCUs communicate by using the Bluetooth modules?
It won't be a very difficult signal I'm trying to send, just something along the lines of "add 1 to integer i".
I hope my question is clear and that one of you might be able to help me.

Regards,

Luuk

Hi Luuk,

That's definitely possible, however to achieve such a functionality you'll need to change the communication protocol, and therefore edit the firmware running on the device.

The source code for the firmware is available at: https://github.com/BITalinoWorld/firmware-bitalino

It can be edited using for example Atmel Studio: http://www.atmel.com/microsite/atmel_studio6/

You're free to change it to your preference and reprogram the device with your custom firmware. For the time being, BITalino can only be reprogrammed using an ISP, such as:
http://www.atmel.com/tools/avrispmkii.aspx?tab=overview
http://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ArduinoISP

We hope you've found this information useful for the goal you are pursuing. Do let us know in case you have any additional questions... we're looking forward to hear about your cool BITalino-powered projects ;)

Best regards,
The BITalino Team
